This months Theme is Boby Parts

It has a craft activity.
A Board book
A CD with songs
A activity book with different finger plays, songs and activities.

I will have to scan Tommy’s craft when we make it.  I look forward to starting this with Tommy.  So go to the website and you can get your first free shipment too, there are no commitments of having to buy so many, etc.  Thought I would share!

I never do the Friday Five…but I should start!

The Friday Five:

1. How many TVs do you have in your home?

There are four televisions in our home.  One in our bedroom, living room, family room and the boys have one in their room for video games.

2. On average, how much TV do you watch in a week?

3- 4 hours maybe.

3. Do you feel that television is bad for young children?

yes, and no…..I don’t think little ones should watch much Tv at all.  I think it limits their development of attention skills and imaginary play.  But I think some educational stuff is great in moderation.  Tommy has two videos he watches on occasion, Baby Mozart and Busy Bee Vocabulary builder.

4. What TV shows do you absolutely HAVE to watch, and if you miss them, you’re heartbroken?

I am not that attached to any TV show, but I try to catch Friends, Will & Grace, ER and Judging Amy every week.

5. If you had the power to create your own television network, what would your line-up look like?

A compilation of all my favorite shows mentioned above with cooking shows, decorating shows like Trading Places and just everyday life stuff.

I set my alarm later this morning thinking, I would feel better with a bit extra sleep.  At 7:00am the baby wakes up jsut crying and crying.  He msut have had a bad dream.  Hubby brings him to our bed and eventually he goes back to his bed once he calms down.  He is still sleeping now.   WHat are the odds….he never wakes before 9:00am.

I think I am going to call into the office and let them know I will be working at home today.  I still am not feeling well, so I rather sit at my desk at home and type in my pj’s and be close to the bathroom.  I hope I am able to go out for supper tonight.  I am really looking forward to that.

I need to type up at least 4 budgets today while at home.  I have a terrible time working from home, but what can you do when your sick.  I have too much work to get done to just take the day off.

I am off to shower and get some work done.  have a great day.

BTW, thanks for all your comments on the R-rated movie issue.  I appreciate the input and knowing that I am not totally unreasonable.

Off to bed again, I think I am starting to come down with Paul’s flu he had last week.  ARGH!! Please no………maybe a little sleep will keep this bug at bay.  I hope!  I was planning on going out with some friends tomorrow night for supper to celebrate a friends birthday.

I got all my errands done today expect for the Jewelry Store and Target.   I did go to Sam’s and two grocery stores to stock on the great meat sales they had.  I should be good in that department for 2 months.

Oh yeah…and I picked up my car.    I needed a new front axle, had a cracked manafold and needed a new exhaust system.   ARGH!!  Three major repairs all at once.  OUCH!!!!   The cost…..just under $1,000.  That certainly has me a bit worried.  Oh well….have to have a car for work.  ARGH!!

Josh worked on his graduation standards project today and got about 1/2 done tonight so he got to go over to a friends house until 11:00.  But I wouldn’t let him stay over night since they never go to sleep and he would be up all night and unable to do good work tomorrow finishing up his project.   He babysat Tommy for me today while we got groceries and went to Sam’s Club.

I am off to bed to read and relax.  Have a great night!!  It is almost FRIDAY!!  YEAH!!!

Oh yeah..Tommy has almost given up crawling, he is walking everywhere!!!  He looks so funny.  Fair warning I have a roll of film to get processed over the weekend……

Morning.  I am off to a 9:00am meeting then I will bew orking at home the rest of the day as I wait to hear the verdict on my car.  Argh…I so hate car repairs I am so at the mercy of the mechanic since I know nothing about cars.

I have a number of errands to run this afternoon as well.

  • Just stopped into say good night.  I went to the library tonight and got a new book to read “Ralph’s Party”. I think it is by Lisa Jewell or something like that.  I also got two more books on tape…WOO HOO!

Ok….I have dilemma to bounce off of you all.  Today my son Josh (age 14) called my hubby and listed off all these friends that were going to a movie and two parents that were taking them.  He wanted to go with them.  Hubby asked him what the Movie was and it was Red Dragon.  ARGH!!  Am I the only parent on the face of the earth that doesn’t believe young kids should watch R-rated movies.  They are rated R for a reason.  Hubby felt on the spot and let him go.  I BTW, would not have let him go.   I don’t allow my children to watch any R-rated movies in my home or would I take them to one.  I also just let them start watching PG -13.   I hate being the strict, un cool Mom.  So what do you all think??   Do you take your young teen to R rated movies???   Maybe I am just too un-cool, but I don’t know.  I am not a entire prude I do watch R-rated movies myself and saw Hannibal in the theatre, but I didn’t take my son nor do I watch R-rated movies when he is still up.   I also still have a bedtime for him when he needs to be in his room ,etc….  I don’t think he needs to grow up so fast….your grown up all enough in this world in my opinion.

I came home from work early today.  WHY??  Because my car is making some lovely clunking noises when you turn the corner so I had to take it in for service.  But they can’t look at it until tomorrow, so I will take the van to my morning appointment tomorrow and then I will work from home the rest of the day.

Since I got home early I have already had a nap and am ready to get a lot done tonight.   I want to stop at the library tonight yet too.

I discovered a cool idea for xmas gifts for my mom, sister, SIL and best Friend.   I usually try to go with a theme or make something.   This year with finances the way they are I am mostly making their gifts.  Too bad I can’t share with you what I am doing, since most of them read this site daily.   Sorry guys….I won’t tell.  But everyone else can email if they are looking for cool gift ides.  I will tell *them!

Well I am off to clean and junk.  Later!

Hello!!  Today is the first day of MEA for Josh does not have school.  He is happily sleeping in, but he does have homework to work on this evening.   He is planning on taking a friend to his Dad’s this weekend, but will not be able to if his homework isn’t done.  We had Joshua’s school conferences last night, he is doing ok.  He has some missing assignments that pulled down his grades significantly, but he will spend his break doing them!   He has a “B” in communications and a “D” in integrated algebra.  He has a few late assignments in algebra that he will be doing this week, yet.  If only I could get him to complete all his work and hand them in on time, life would be gone.  Right now he is grounded from the computer due to the grade in algebra.  So he hasn’t been able to work on his website at all.

MsCaffeineaddict – your right about Erik – the school says he is at the bottom of the class due his low IQ so they pass him each year to the next grade since he is functioning to his capacity.   Ok, he is so far behind the other kids though.  It is frustrating to say the least.  We wish they would hold him back a year and maybe he would master some of the skills.  There are so many holes in his education on skills he just hasn’t mastered.  He still can’t consistently tell time, even.  He has no concept of time at all.   So maybe with the assessment he will be able to get an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and work on the missing skills he has.

I hope you are feeling better!!!!!!  I can’t believe you are having three b-day parties….LOL!!   SO what are you plans for the parties??  I haven’t even sent out Tommy’s invitations yet.  I plan on doing that this weekend.  Tommy turns one on the 26th.

Let’s see what else…hmmm…the drive to Red wing was nice.  I don’t have a book on tape checked out from the library.   And yes, MsCaffeieneAddict – Books on tape ROCK!!!   Glad you enjoy them.  Nice way to fit a book into our busy schedules.  I have a couple of books on reserve at the library so I will pick them up tomorrow night when the library is open later.  So instead I listened to this new talk radio station, FM107 on the way to Red Wing.  It was ok, but they play Dr. Laura and I must admit I really disagree with that woman and she makes me mad at times.

I did nothing from my to do list last night.  I played with Tommy, watched Judging Amy and went to sleep.  That was enough excitement for me!

Well I suppose I should scoot and get ready for work.  No of course I type on here before I am dressed to my shoes….sorry Flylady.   Actually speaking of Flylady I heard her on that new radio station too….FM107!  It was just a short interview.

I know I haven’t shared a recipe in ages, but I think I want to make this one this weekend.

    Sweet Onion Sauce

    by Todd Wilbur

The Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich is one of Subway’s biggest new product rollouts in chain history. The sandwich is made with common ingredients: Teriyaki glazed chicken breast strips, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, and olives. But what sets it apart from all other teriyaki chicken sandwiches is Subway’s delicious Sweet Onion Sauce. You can ask for as much of the scrumptious sauce as you want on your custom made sub at the huge sandwich chain, but you won’t get any extra to take home, even if you offer to pay. Now you can add a clone version of the sauce to your home-built sandwich masterpieces whenever you want.

    1/2 cup light corn syrup
    1 tablespoon minced white onion

    1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
    2 teaspoons white distilled vinegar
    1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
    1 teaspoon brown sugar
    1 teaspoon buttermilk powder
    1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
    1/8 teaspoon poppy seeds
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    pinch cracked black pepper
    pinch garlic powder

    1. Combine all ingredients in a small microwave-safe bowl.
    2. Heat mixture uncovered in the microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes on high until mixture boils rapidly.
    3. Whisk well, cover and cool. (http://www.topsecretrecipes.com)

    Makes about 2/3 cup.
