Childhood Favorite….

Tommy, Josh and I made these this evening for a treat!!  The smell alone brings back childhood memories for me.   A favorite from Josh’s childhood is Monkey Bread.  We will be making that tomorrow!  His last babysitter used to make that for him.

CHOCOLATE OATMEAL DROPS

½ Cups Milk

1 – stick of butter

½ cup of cocoa

2 cups sugar

3 cups oatmeal

Combine Milk, Cocoa, and Sugar in sauce pan.  Heat to boil, stir constantly as it scorches easily.  Boil for 3 minutes.

Remove from heat and add oatmeal.  Mix well.  Drop by teaspoon on wax paper until cool.

NEW OVEN….

Well the installers just left from installing our new wall oven.  They were to be here between 2:00 and 5:00 and got here at 6:30 to start the install.  Oh well….at least it is done!  I am very happy with it!  Now all we need is a new cooktop.  We will be looking for one of clearance as well.   I am sure we will find one eventually.  I am willing to wait until we find a good deal!

It has been a very nice weekend.  We have not had one of those for a long time….it was so nice!   Saturday we went to a wedding in North Branch.  A young man that works for my hubby was the groom.  It was an interesting wedding.  I had a bit of a hard time with it as the groom and bride were the same age as Josh.   They were soooo young!!   But the groom is very mature for his age.  We went up for the reception.  A friend of hubby’s went with us as well.   After that we came home and I crawled in bed and read my book until bedtime!!  What a rare treat!

Sunday we got up and I immediately started reading my book again.  I really wanted to finish it!!   We showered and got ready for our day.  We went to Walmart to pick up a couple of things and went out to eat lunch at China Buffet is W. St Paul.   Afterwards we headed to the Children’s Museum for their free addmission Sunday!   Tommy had a great time!!  He was go go go….it was hard to keep an eye on him.   Then my hubby indulged me in my one weakness.  We went to the half proce books in St Paul.  ARGH!!!  I only spent 17.00 that is pretty good.  I bought a new Magic Treehouse Book for Tommy and picked up a few others to donate to the school at church.   We also discovered a new series to try called Cam Jansen Mysteries.   I bought four books and when I got home realized I had already read one of the books!

Kate Atkinson – Behind the Scenes at the Museum
Ann Packer – The Dive from Clausen’s Pier
Adriane Trigiani – The Queen of the Big Time
Anita Diamant – Good Harbor (read already..ooops)

Each on clearance for only $1.00.

Tommy fell asleep on the way home.  Hubby went to pick up Erik from his Mom’s and I stayed home and I finished reading my book.   It was my first 5/5 read of the year.   Very good book!!!

The Thirteeth Tale – Diane Setterfield – 5/5

I picked up a few other books at the library so I am on to the next book I wanted to read for bed tonight.

Tomorrow they are coming to install our new oven.  I hope it goes smoothly.  We are also dropping off one of our cats to get groomed.  She is so hairy and we are getting her a lion cut.   Hopefully that will cut down o nthe hair in our home!

Hubby wants me to give the puppy a bath so I need to scoot.   Later!!  Have a great night!

I am pretty close to done with Tommy’s room.  I still have one little container to go through and throw somethings.  But I did take out 2 garbage bags of toys that are going to Goodwill and one of garbage to toss.   I doubt Tommy will even notice one thing missing.

Erik’s mother should be here to pick him up soon, so I am going to relax and read until I need to leave to get supper.  We are having KFC tonight for Family Movie Night.  Tomorrow we are going to a wedding in the afternoon and Sunday we are taking Tommy to the Children’s Museum as they have a Bob The Builder exhibit.  Should end up being a nice weekend!!  I am looking forward to it.

Later ….
