AFTERNOON UPDATE…..

The house is so quiet…..hubby is asleep on the couch, Josh is at work and Tommy is still napping.   I should wake Tommy up soon or he will be up all night.  But it is so quiet and relaxing……….

I took about a 45 minute nap with Tommy and then got up and started on some projects.

  • Hubby put my black beans in the crockpot so they are cooking.
  • I cut up and sauteed 16 onions.   I will bag and freeze them once they cool down a bit.
  • I picked up some more books on tape from the library so I am ripping those to my MP3 players.   I am doing Puppet by Jdy Feilding right now.   I have a bunch to do.
  • I have done two loads of laundry.

Once Tommy gets up we will be making Cherry Playdough for Valentines Day!

CHERRY PLAYDOUGH

2-1/2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Salt
1 Tbs Cream of Tartar
2 Packs unsweetened Cherry Kool-aid

2 Tbs Oil
2 Cups Water

Mix dry ingredients.  Add oil and boil water.  Stir quickly and mix well.  When cool, mix with hands and store in airtight container.

We went to the library this morning and got a movie to watch tonight with Tommy and a ton of other stuff.  What is so great about living here is that we are so well known at the library I don’t even have to say my name to pick up my reserves…LOL!  Yep…we are one reading family!

Speaking of reading….Tommy wants to learn to read.   I didn’t know he knew the letter sounds.  I was doing flashcards with him for the lower case leters and he said, “momma did you know H says….Ha.”   Hmmm….so we went to Barnes and Noble and bought him the first set of BOB books to start on some simple reading.   He is excited to start learning to read.  He is too funny!    I thought he was too young to start with this, but I guess since he is so into it and already knows some letter sounds we might as well get started.  We are still working on some letter sounds but he wants to read so we will do both at the same time.   Any suggests, resources or advice from you homeschooling families are greatly appreciated.
