Yeah…1/2 through the week! I am so glad. I am still making it to work early. I hope to continue this. Yesterday I got home and was able to get alot done before picking up Tommy. This allowed us to have our evening for other things. I took the boys to Target to buy school supplies to fill our mission bags for church. I try to do charity work throughout the year. I want my children to know that it is right to help out others in life. We tend to be such a self-centered society. Erik found it interesting that kids in other countries couldn’t go to school if they didn’t have supplies. I still don’t think he really got it. So we fill 4 bags with supplies that will be sent overseas to allow 4 children to go to school. Though we can’t afford to do huge projects we do our small part with the boys so they can have the experience. Two years ago we assisted in having an Easter party at a battered woman’s shelter. An eye opening experience for us. So will continue to look for ways to contribute to our community/world as a family. The other thing that has been very difficult for Erik is tithing. We give a percentage to our church evey week, but he doesn’t see the point in giving to the church. When we get a raise at work, we increase the amount to the church as well. Some times he will take the money out of the envelope and keep it. And he would NEVER give his own money. I think if we would have started this earlier with him, he might be better. I give Tommy an envelope and that goes ok. But Tommy is with us full-time and exposed to our ways daily. I just think it is very important to raise compasionate children. Yes, I am a social worker so this is what I do, but wouldn’t the world be nicer if we were all more tolerant and compassionate?? As many of you know my oldest son has gone on two mission trips and is very compassionate. He gets that isn’t all about usand that we are very fortunate.
Ok…that is something I am passionate about…sorry for blabbering on! We just have such an importnat job as parents in forming who are children will be as adults. Sometimes that job can be taken too lightly!
Let’s see.. the rest of my evening was cutting my nephew’s hair. My clippers aren’t working very well, but we made it through it! I need to call my in-laws today as they want me to come clean their apartment. I think I should just schedule a regular time every other month to clean over there. My oldest son helps me clean over there each time. Usually we clean the rugs, I hope she doesn’t want that done yet, I can jsut vacuum real well!

It’s so refreshing to see someone else teaching their children to be charitable. My parents were not giving people and they certainly didn’t give to strangers. Somewhere in my past I learned that charitable giving of ones self by way of either money or time spent will come back to reward you many times over.
